The iron's shaft briefly lines up with the distant flagstick in this frame. It took a complete accident of timing to make my very ordinary swing look as though it was pointing out the destination. #GolfPhotography
With the putter resting beside my bag, I watch other golfers read this green without secretly choosing routes for them. Their games can stay theirs. #PuttingGreen
A familiar short iron was waiting in the lesson bay when I arrived. Nice having one ordinary thing ready while I worked up the nerve to ask why last week's practice had felt so confusing. #GolfLessons
A short putt can expose more doubt than a long drive. With the driver I expect adventure. With the putter I occasionally forget I'm still the person operating it. #GolfHumor
The changing-room mirror ends above my shoes. I looked completely ready in it until I stepped outside still wearing the pair I'd driven over in. A very generous framing choice. #GolferLife
The ball nearly hit my shadow on the way past during practice. A safe distance from the real me, but I still stepped back. My understanding of shadows briefly lost to my reflexes. #Putting
While my buddy checks us in, I stretch beside the tee with all the headcovers still on. The first ball can wait while I wake up a little; there's no prize for getting straight into a driver swing. #GolfWarmUp
The putt stopped closer than I'd expected, so I almost forgot how badly I'd guessed the break. Nice result. Still worth remembering the part of the plan that didn't happen. #Putting
The lie is awkward enough that I can't quite settle my feet. I'm stepping away and checking the ground properly before a small recovery becomes a larger problem. #RecoveryShot
Never expected to have a preference about which pocket holds a repair tool. Yet here we are, halfway through a round, and I'm reorganizing a bag I considered perfectly fine yesterday. #GolfBag
That putt was heading the wrong way almost immediately. I knew, my partner knew, and we still watched it finish with the determination of people expecting an apology. #GolfHumor
My wedge bounced differently from the firm patch and the softer one beside it. Same club, same motion, and two reminders that the ground gets a vote. #WedgePlay
The edge of the fairway isn't straight enough to follow like a painted line. It drifts toward the trees, then away, and I enjoy watching the shape change as we walk. #GolfCourse
Drove separately this morning and arrived with completely different music stuck in our heads. Our golf group now has a very confused soundtrack for the opening holes. #GolfFriends
A broad green looks peaceful from a distance. Get close enough to see each slope and suddenly the putting surface has several small arguments waiting for you. #GolfCourse
My practice partner took the empty basket away while I wiped the clubs. We never discussed who would do what, which made packing up feel unusually easy. #GolfFriends
My driver has a headcover shaped nothing like a driver. It looks perfectly normal to me until I see it hanging beside the other bags in a photo. #GolfGear
From the awning, alder stood out under lavender afterglow. I noticed a crane in fog before a tap pulled my attention. Once the contract was done, I steered a shot from the dip. By the time bagel and seltzer were packed, I felt amused. #GolfMood #GolfScene
Small golf pleasures today: salted pretzels, reliable heavy towel, a clear low-risk miss pattern, and one creative adjustment before a creek ran beside the path faded. #GolfProgress #GolfWeekday
