People often want to attribute the reason for Judas’ betrayal to some additional source of discontent w/Jesus. The gospels don’t do that. Greed is evil enough for Judas (and the rest of us) to betray him.
@KeithNester1 I always read that Judas decided to betray him after Mary anointed him with nard. Judas couldn’t accept that the messiah would be killed and buried.
@KeithNester1 Asking with humility, doesn’t John 6:64 sort of imply that Judas’ betrayal was also somehow connected to rejecting the Eucharist? Or perhaps this is reading into something that may not be there?
@KeithNester1 Could fear of being killed/arrested also have played a role? As with Peter's denials?
@KeithNester1 In John 6 some of the disciples walked away from Jesus bec of the instruction to eat his flesh. Later when Judas left to betray Jesus the Lord spoke of institution of the Eucharist at the last supper. Perhaps this contributed to Judas decision to betray?
@KeithNester1 Pretty stoked Saturday I get baptized, confirmed, and get to have the holy eucharist. 3 sacraments in one night. God is great
@KeithNester1 It truly is enough. Our Greed and Pride go against making Jesus the Lord of our life it will always be enough to take us down the wrong path. Something as easy as just trusting him seem so hard for us.
