Traffic congestion is the number one issue coming up on the doorsteps I’ve visited in recent weeks. There are measures in the Galway Transport Strategy that could help, but it has been stalled for years. It’s time for action 👇 kennydeery.com

@KennethDeery Where you are standing does not even have a continuous footpath, never mind a cycle track. Lots of children live here. It's being developed field by field with no thoughts for future bus routes or bike lanes or amenity. That's on us, not on Eamon Ryan. What will you change?
@KennethDeery Today: @TFIupdates Local Link bus from Menlo to Galway Cathedral; now on @BusFeda to Letterkenny; will xfer to @LocalLinkDSL for Moville. Distance 300km - literally a door-to-door service. Relaxing day, online, reading, enjoying scenery. More of this will end traffic congestion.
@KennethDeery But two out of the three Judicial challenges to this giant white elephant of a Landowner Enrichment Scheme have come from businesses (Galway Race Course and Brookes)? If current council staff wanted to solve traffic they could easily put an East-West bus corridor.
@KennethDeery Not linking increasing traffic emissions with Climate Change is information you also need to speak about Kenny?
@KennethDeery And we don't have to wait for the Ring Road to get started. We need Bus Connects to move forward, a Cycling Connects Strategy, more higher density infill development, planning models that promote mixed-use walkable neighbourhoods, a bus/walk or cycle to school strategy, and more.
@KennethDeery Have you a direct link to where you expand on this? Can’t find it through your bio. Please let’s not let Eamon Ryan and his ilk hold up progress. Joined up thinking needed for all road users in Galway. Thanks
@KennethDeery Odd that you're blaming the current central government for poor progress when - local government has dragged its feet in implementing any low-hanging fruit🚶🚴measures in the GTS for a decade - previous central governments have failed to provide funding for public transport🚌🚊
@KennethDeery hopefully this does not involve building new roads. we badly need to think beyond the car 🙏
