@Theopulenceman Thank goodness you’re not the naval officer. Attempt to detain the Minister could have escalated into a chaotic confrontation. A good officer knows when to exercise restraint. That no weapon was discharged speaks volumes about the discipline & training of the men on the ground.

@DanKatsina50 If we ever win the war against terrorism, the rebuilding process would be as difficult as the war itself. May Nigeria prevail.

Hardly a week goes by without seeing a Nigerian in the diaspora in a mugshot for one crime or another. Sometimes, three different cases in the same week. If you find yourself being stereotyped, the least you can do is refuse to become a participant in your own denigration.

@SportsAdigun That place is scary even during daytime. It’s totally crazy around there. Ikeja under bridge too.

@Benzemanas Understandable. I also struggle to make sense of the enormous human and material resources that have been expended and still expanding in the fight against insecurity for over a decade now. I’m truly sorry for your loss. May his sacrifice not be in vein.

@44unknwn @_babafemisamuel @optama @TheAdukeIbadan The point of the entire reply is that I think the darkness in him is beyond drugs and radicalism. One has to give up every sense of remorse and pity to do half of what he did. Like I said, he is a proper mad man.

@_babafemisamuel @optama @TheAdukeIbadan You wouldn’t embarrass yourself if you actually read to understand the entire point I was trying to make. Believe what you believe.

I grew up knowing the loss of parents in a way a child should never have to understand. So, somewhere along the way, I made a promise to myself….when life finally placed a child in my arms, I would not take the privilege lightly. I would be intentional about the person I chose to build a home with, and intentional about the kind of father I would become. I would fight, as much as a man can, against the demands of work and life stealing from my child the moments I once wished I had with my own parents, even if it means retiring from the combat life I’ve always known. I did not know then what life would look like when that day came. And somehow, in its strange and beautiful wisdom, the universe gave me a woman better than anything I had imagined for myself. Now, I look at my wife and our daughter and wonder how a life that began with trajectory-changing losses could arrive at so much abundance. I have been entrusted with a little human being who knows nothing about the world yet, but has somehow become my entire world. She has made a father out of me. And in becoming her father, I have invented a softer version of the man I had to become to survive, more patient than the man I thought I was, and infinitely more afraid of losing something than I have ever been. I do not know what tomorrow holds. For now, I ask only for time. Long life. Good health. Enough years to watch my wife grow old beside me, enough years to watch my daughter become whoever she is destined to be, and enough years to give her the presence I once longed for. I have been given another chance to become the man I once needed. A loving wife. A beautiful daughter. The privilege of being called Dad. The boy who waited by doors, who learned not to need too loudly, is in the same room as the man holding the one person who will never have to wait for him. I am both of them at once! You will not know the kind of loneliness I knew. Not from me. IREMIDE♥️ //My fortune/favor has arrived// The tides have now learned my will. What once dragged me under now carries me.. What else could I possibly ask for? The future has a face I am not afraid to love. I feel claimed, and that is the closest I have ever come to home. The universe owes me nothing! I have been given more than I ever knew how to ask for.

With the little books I’ve read in my 23 years in this world, I can tell you one thing for a fact: NOT ALL AUTHORS ARE MENTALLY OKAY. Some embraced literature and the art of writing to give their mental instability a language; they started writing, and somehow decided, “Since I’m already going through it, let me make the whole world go through it with me.”
