It's best to not ignore the signs. Yesterday, the federal government flagged changes to the stage 3 tax cuts. Those earning over $180,000 will receive a tax cut, but only half of what was initially promised. Meanwhile, those earning under $130,000 will have their tax cut doubled. The federal LNP, promised to reverse these changes. It's worth noting that Australians earning between $80,000 to $130,000, who live in the outer suburbs and regions, have been the main group moving towards the LNP over the last 12 months. This group will shape the next federal election result, and the LNP has just stepped on one huge land mine.
@KosSamaras #AirbusAlbo on tax cuts in July 2022: “My word is my bond. I’ve always been a man of my word.” #Albolied
@KosSamaras Maybe, but a lie is a lie. “My word is my bond…” 🤣🤣
There are many policies that the LNP can implement that will do a whole lot more for cost of living pressures than these ‘crumb’ tax cuts which btw barely covered the tax offset increase I paid this year thanks to Albanese. A focus on reducing the cost of electricity and introduction of nuclear for one is a winner.
@KosSamaras That’s what it’s about isn’t it- votes- that’s it. Feed the peasants crumbs and they will think you care.
@KosSamaras This is the Morrison way. Do whatever the focus groups tell you to do. Albo is a liar and can't be trusted. No one is going to change their vote based on a lousy $15 a week.
@KosSamaras 32% primary vote, failed referendum and broken promises on tax cuts? Seems like the minefield is Labors to navigate.
@KosSamaras Maybe I missed summat. Sussssan Ley (shades of Bomber Beazley?) said they'd legislate backbut even thicko Angus Taylor said "hang on a minute". Personally I think they damage has been done but they may try to obfuscate out of it, with the committed assistance of most of the MSM
@KosSamaras Agreed. But Albo has stepped on 3 land mines: - Will impact his move into wealthy inner city; - Negotiations with Greens in the senate; - RBA and bank economists will say rates will need to stay higher for longer as a result. Albo should have done nothing.
