Emotions communicate a need. They are the messengers not enemies. They help us to understand what we need.
Starting today let’s Pause, Listen, and Ask - what are our emotions trying to tell us?
If you or someone you know needs help, please reach out to 988.
Affirmations start as words that we tell ourselves, with repetition they become beliefs that shape how we think, how we see ourselves, and how we see the world. They help us to stay in our higher brain.
Speak to yourself with hope – they influence mindset you have for tomorrow.
This school year don’t let the uncertainty, nerves, or all the questions keep you from trying new things. Believe in your ability. Believe in your worth.
Don’t let fear keep you from becoming who you were meant to be.
Going back to school is stressful – we may not know how to react when our lower brain is activating
Using the LEO tool STOP – you choose to respond using our higher brain instead of letting the moment choose for you
YOU have worth, even in those moments you can’t feel it. Reaching out for help – isn’t a weakness, it’s an act of self-worth.
If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, call or text 988. You don’t have to face these moments alone. You are WORTH it.
Practicing gratitude shifts our perspective from what we don’t have to the things that we do. Gratitude may not change our circumstances, but it can change our perspective.
That change in perspective can make all the difference.
Stepping back into school can bring all kinds of stressors. Are we offended by the things our peers are doing? Are we trying out a new sport? Are we not friends with the same people from last year?
So, let’s recap our LEO tool O.U.C.H: Reasons our lower brain activates.
When you value yourself, you become more confident, resilient, and capable of facing life’s challenges.
If you find yourself struggling to keep a positive view of yourself below are 3 quick ways to build yourself up.
September is Suicide Prevention Month:
Remember: Your worth is not measured by your hardest days. You have value. You are needed.
If you or someone you know is struggling. Please contact the 988 hotline and talk to someone.
As we get back into the routine of school, it can have us feeling stressed. So much to think about, so many changes, and so much to remember. When we're able to recognize our lower brain is starting to take over, we can use our higher brain to respond in those moments of stress.
