Congratulations to Dr. Pitonyak, Michael Harris ‘26, Jacob Marsh ‘25, and Jack Putnam ‘25, who published a paper, “Transverse single-spin asymmetries in γSIDIS as a direct probe of quark-gluon-quark longitudinal momentum structure,” in the peer-reviewed journal Physics Letters B.

Michael Harris ‘26 gave a great talk on his NSF-funded research with Dr. Pitonyak at the APS Division of Nuclear Physics Meeting! The talk was on “Transverse Single-Spin Asymmetries in Inclusive DIS and SIDIS Production of Photons.”
Jacob Marsh ‘25 gave a great talk on his research with Dr. Pitonyak at the APS Division of Nuclear Physics Meeting! The talk was on “Updated Numerical Study of Transverse Single-Spin Asymmetries in Single-Inclusive Pion Production from Lepton-Nucleon Collisions.”
Michael Harris ‘26 and Jacob Marsh ‘25 are with Dr. Pitonyak this week at the APS Division of Nuclear Physics Meeting in Boston! All three will present talks on their research with Dr. Pitonyak’s group.
On Oct. 11 at 12pm in NG-203 we will be having the Annual Homecoming Lecture in the Natural Sciences. This year the speaker is a Physics alum, Marcus Brown ’20, and the title of the talk is “From LVC to an Engineering Career: Advice on How to Become a Well-Rounded Scientist”.

Penn Smith conducted summer research at Duke University as a part of their Nuclear Laboratory REU program. Penn worked on code for the Electron-Ion Collider that will categorize events to assist developing appropriate theoretical models of the internal structure of the proton.
Michael Harris, Jacob Marsh, and Jack Putnam worked on NSF-funded research this summer with Dr. Pitonyak. The group numerically analyzed transverse-spin asymmetries in photon production from electron-proton collisions that are sensitive to quark-gluon correlations.

Tristan Rosenberry ‘25 is an intern this summer working under a project manager for PPL's transmission system. This has given him access to a wide variety of shadowing experiences, with his main project being a single phase recloser implementation effectiveness review.
Justin DeShong ‘25 is conducting quantum information science research this summer at LVC with Dr. Lyons. They have been working on the matchgate equivalence problem for different numbers of qubits. Justin also has been writing gap code for a project related to Werner states.
Dr. Pitonyak gave a talk at the nuclear physics conference QCD Evolution this week at the University of Pavia in Italy, where the famous physicist Alessandro Volta was a professor in the late 1700s.
Congratulations to Collin Barker '19, who won the Elizabeth Stout Dissertation Award at Lehigh University! His Ph.D. dissertation in physics was titled, "Femtosecond Laser Fabrication of Optically Active Single Crystals for Quantum Networking Applications."
