Realizada no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciências Florestais da @EAJ_UFRN, com apoio do Laboratório de Genética e Melhoramento Florestal (LabGeM), a pesquisa avaliou a diversidade genética em 15 populações naturais dessa espécie nativa distribuídas pelo estado do RN. (+)
A jurema-preta possui alto potencial econômico e ecológico, principalmente para fabricação de cercas, lenha e carvão, bem como a utilização forrageira, melífera e medicinal, o que faz com que a espécie seja explorada de diversas formas. 😑 Leia + 📲ufrn.br/imprensa/repor…
Ciência!🌿 Pesquisa da UFRN avaliou as ameaças à diversidade genética de espécies arbóreas com importância econômica, mas superexploradas nas florestas nativas. Entre elas está a jurema-preta, árvore originária do Brasil e de ocorrência natural em áreas de Caatinga (+)
Os resultados, publicados na Genetic Resources and Crop Evolution, indicam a necessidade de um manejo adequado da jurema-preta associado a estratégias eficientes de conservação. De acordo com Kyvia, uma alternativa é a domesticação e implantação de florestas plantadas. (+)
O trabalho, fruto da dissertação de Kyvia Pontes Teixeira das Chagas, sob orientação do professor Fábio Vieira, da EAJ/UFRN, observou que todas as populações apresentaram baixos valores de diversidade genética, além de decréscimos populacionais significativos. (+)
