HUD is welcoming the new year with funding to make homes safer to protect children and families addressing significant health and safety hazards.
detroitnews.com/story/life/hom… The lead dust issue and even soil contamination is significant because children can ingest the material unwittingly through the air they breathe, chewing on chipped paint in the home and the habit of placing fingers in the mouth and around the eyes.
The City of Detroit is known for its beautiful homes. Lead-based paint can pose a health and safety risk to your family, and if your house was built before 1978, it may contain lead-painted surfaces. Removing it must be done properly. Find a certified lead professional.
