On la criait dans la rue, on la peignait sur les vitrines, on l'imprimait sur des cartes postales et jusque dans des jeux pour enfants. Pendant la Nuit de cristal, des Juifs arrêtés étaient embarqués dans un bus marqué « Voyage gratuit pour la Palestine », direction Dachau. En Pologne occupée, on rassemblait des familles juives sur la place du marché, forcées de poser avec une pancarte « Nous partons en Palestine », avant de les fusiller. Les nazis chassaient les Juifs en leur disant d'aller en Palestine. Aujourd'hui qu'ils y sont retournés, on veut les en chasser en les traitant de nazis. Il faut bien comprendre que la marque de l'antisémitisme, c'est le retournement perpétuel. Au XIXe siècle, les Juifs étaient à la fois trop capitalistes et trop révolutionnaires. Trop assimilés pour qu'on les repère, pas assez pour qu'on les accepte. Cosmopolites apatrides quand ils n'avaient pas d'État, nationalistes colonisateurs depuis qu'ils en ont un. Étrangers en Europe, étrangers au Proche-Orient. Hier, des Orientaux qu'il fallait renvoyer en Palestine, aujourd'hui, des Européens qu'il faudrait renvoyer en Pologne. L'antisémitisme fonctionne comme un virus. Il ne change jamais de cible, il mute juste assez pour déjouer les anticorps de chaque époque. Et c'est pour cela que tant de gens ne le reconnaissent pas : ils cherchent la souche de 1938, alors que c'est un variant qui circule.

Everyone is sharing the satellite pictures of Rafah and calling the rubble the whole story. Nobody is showing you what was under it. This is Rafah. The red lines are the tunnel network Hamas built under the neighborhoods, and the video marks where it runs under stadiums, under mosques, under schools, under UNRWA compounds, under hospitals, under civilian homes. The overhead is an illustration. The shafts and the corridors are not. The IDF filmed inside them. Concrete arches, bunks, stored gear, a city under the city, dug so the people above it could be used as the roof. That’s why the blocks came down. You can’t leave a fortified tunnel grid under a border town and call the houses above it civilian. Hamas put the war under the kitchens and the classrooms on purpose, then sent the pictures of the kitchens and the classrooms around the world. The satellite image is the surface. The reason is underneath it. Gaza wasn’t destroyed because Israel felt like it. It was destroyed because the Islamic army that started the war built its base under the people it claims to defend, and then refused to come out.

Some numbers tell a dispositive story. 1939: 40 million Arabs in the world. 2026: 450 million Arabs in the world 1939: 17 million Jews in the world. 2026: 16 million Jews in the world 1939: 4 sovereign Arab states 2026: 22 sovereign Arab states 1939: 0 sovereign Jewish states. 2026: 1 sovereign Jewish state Tell me again what the argument is about.

Palestine, the region, was not Britain's to give - it is and always was land belonging to the Jews. Despite colonization by the Arabs and massacres of indigenous Jews throughout the last fourteen hundred years by Islamic masses who, in the name of their religion, executed countless Jews.

This is exactly why an uneducated socialist pleb like @owenjonesjourno is simply the last person anybody should ever even take seriously. He literally makes up everything he claims. None of it has any historical legitimacy. He’s a charlatan and a propagandist, and nothing more. Jones is treating 1917 as year zero. It isn’t. When the British promised a Jewish national home, Jews were already the largest community in Jerusalem and, by the later Ottoman counts, the majority. The Prussian consul in 1844 put Jews ahead of Muslims and Christians in the city. By the 1880s they were the vast majority. Yet Herzl didn’t publish “The Jewish State” until 1896. The people Jones says “actually lived there” didn’t include, in his telling, the Jews who already did. His 90 percent figure is a countrywide snapshot of a thinly governed Ottoman district, not a title deed. And the promise wasn’t the whole map. In 1922 Britain cut the Mandate at the Jordan River. About three-quarters of the original territory, the part that became Transjordan, was closed to Jewish settlement and handed to an Arab emirate. The Jewish national home was what was left west of the river. That partition happened before a single refugee from 1948 existed. Arabs did move into western Palestine in the Mandate years. British officials recorded illegal and unrecorded immigration from Syria, Egypt, and Transjordan into the towns the new economy was building. People moved toward jobs which the Jews created. And none of this explains 1834. In Safed, Arab and Druze mobs looted the Jewish quarter for 33 days, killing and raping hundreds of Jews, while Egypt was fighting a peasant revolt. In Hebron the same summer, Jews who had taken no side were killed, synagogues wrecked, the quarter stripped. Herzl wasn’t even born. There was no Zionist movement, no Balfour, no occupation to blame. The attacks still happened. Jones isn’t describing the historical record. He is inventing a history that simply never existed, starting it at 1917, and omitting everything that came before it.

Interesting history lesson, Mayor. You left out one rather awkward detail: Oswald Mosley was not some creature who appeared fully formed from the "political right". He had been a Labour MP, sat on Labour’s NEC and was a member of the Fabian Society before founding the British Union of Fascists. Even George Bernard Shaw, one of the great Fabian luminaries, was still publicly praising Mosley in 1932, after the BUF had been founded. Which does rather spoil the neat little morality tale in which fascism belonged exclusively to “the other side”. History is considerably more inconvenient than a mayoral tweet. We see you.

BREAKING: The Green Party of England and Wales voted today, 1,022 to 813, to declare Zionism a form of racism and to treat it through the same disciplinary process as any other racism complaint. Then it went further. Members were offered an amendment that said this policy could not be used to discipline anyone for belonging to a synagogue that is a Zionist (meaning supporting Israel’s right to exist.) They rejected it, 1,026 to 684. A British political party was asked, in plain words, to promise it would not investigate Jews because of the synagogue they go to, and it refused. Most British Jews are Zionists. The Institute for Jewish Policy Research found that 65% of British Jews identify as Zionist and only 10% as anti-Zionist. Most mainstream synagogues in this country describe themselves as Zionist. So the Green Party has now written a rule that labels the large majority of Jews in Britain as racists and leaves their places of worship open to disciplinary complaints. If any party voted that its members could be investigated for attending a mosque, a gurdwara or a Black church, there would be national outrage and the leader would be finished by Monday. When it is Jews, it gets called a debate about foreign policy. The same motion calls for a single Arab majority state in place of Israel. That is a demand to dismantle the one country that took in my family after they were driven out of Iraq and Tunisia. This is antisemitism, voted through by a party that wants to govern Britain. Zack Polanski is standing in Holborn and St Pancras on Thursday, and he should be asked whether Jewish members of his party are safe from being investigated for where they pray.

For three years the world has cried about Gaza and what was done to it. Of everything filmed in those three years, apart from the footage of October 7 itself, this is the video that settles it for me. He is talking about all the land he calls Palestinian. She asks if that means the annihilation of Israel. He says YES, of course. He says they will do it again and again, that the Al-Aqsa Flood was only the first time, and that October 7th, October 10th, October one millionth, everything they do is justified. So the occupation line was a lie, and he is the one who says it. Gaza wasn’t occupied. The thing he won’t accept is that Israel exists. He says they’ll repeat the massacre until it doesn’t. They’ve been saying that, in one form or another, for a century. On October 7 they stopped saying it and did it. That day wasn’t a threat. It was the act. About 1,200 people were slaughtered in roughly ten hours. Not weeks. Not a campaign. A single morning. That is 120 an hour. Run the same rate over a day and it’s about 2,880. They also took about 250 hostages and held many of them for more than two years. If we take proportion as a measure since that’s what people keep saying, then the rate they set on the day, across the 730 days and more that those people were kept, a response that merely matched them would be somewhere around two million dead. The figure circulated for Gaza is about 76,000, of which a large share were fighters and a further share would have died anyway by natural death. Even if you take the whole 76,000, the gap between what they did and what was done back is not a disproportion against Gaza. It’s a shortfall of well over a million and a half, if matching them is the standard the complaint is using. Israel didn’t destroy Gaza. Gaza destroyed Gaza. Gaza chose the massacre, chose to keep the hostages, and chose a man who went on television and promised to do it again. I genuinely don’t care about the destruction of Gaza. That satellite photo doing the rounds doesn’t make me feel sympathy. It doesn’t make me feel empathy. And it certainly doesn’t make me feel guilt. I feel nothing for them. Gaza deserves every bit of it. If they choose to even attempt to repeat it again as he promised, the restraint we showed to Gaza over the past three years will vanish. And since the world supports them doing it again, what will follow them trying will be on the heads of those supporting them.

This is Jerusalem in 1896. The Lumière brothers filmed the railway station, and a count published that year put the city at 45,000 people, of which 8,500 were Muslims, 8,700 were Christians, and 28,000 Jews. The camera moves to the Western Wall and the people standing there are Jews. This is a year before Herzl, twenty-one years before the Balfour Declaration, forty years before the boats of the 1930s, fifty-two years before the state. The old yishuv at that wall wasn’t waiting on a congress in Basel. The prayer at the wall was already the claim. The haters keep moving the date because the date is their whole claim. First it was Balfour, then it was the boats, then it was 1948, as if a people can be talked out of a city by starting the clock after they were already the majority in it. The film doesn’t argue. It counts. Twenty-eight thousand Jews in a city of forty-five thousand, at the wall, before any of those dates existed.
