The Last Ninja (1987) is generally considered the best-selling C64 game of all time. 🥷 Over 750,000 copies of the C64 version sold in Europe alone. 🥷 Multi-format sales exceeded 2 million units worldwide. 🥷 System 3's Mark Cale has claimed around 4 million copies sold in total. It's not the most complex game in history, but possible one with the biggest "wow" factor when first playing it. Marveling at the incredibly beautiful pixel art graphics, listening one of the best soundtracks ever (Ben Daglish, Anthony Lees), the game was hitting perfectly on that 80s Karate and Kung-Fu vibe, which probably captured every teenage boy's mind at the time. Closing in on 40 years and The Last Ninja still gives me nerd chills more than any other C64 game.

Chicago, Illinois 1893 Hey @grok What nationality held a celebration at the 1933 Chicago World Fair where they had child sacrifices?

Trey Parker flunked out of the University of Colorado for making this musical. Then he and Matt Stone made South Park and said suck balls 🖕

I love how he’s dressed up as Benjamin Franklin, the inventor of this instrument. William Zeitler plays his arrangement of Tchaikowsky's "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" from the Nutcracker (1892) on the glass armonica invented by Benjamin Franklin.

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, c. 1925. The Alberta Legislature Building, aka "the Ledge," was built in just a few short years from 1907-1913 and still stands today. It features marble columns and 3 distinct types of marble from around the world. Do you recognize the architecture?

@scs_real one man you know he puts his heart ino it !respect!

@theiaincameron can any one with a clean record move there?

🌳Why They Erased Every Unlimited Food Forest On Earth Video content: How can it be explained that humanity abandoned the most efficient food production system ever developed—forests layered across continents with mathematical precision, shaped over generations with a biological exactitude now being rediscovered in regenerative ecology—and replaced it with a centralized, commercially dependent food infrastructure, all without the public ever seriously grappling with the true costs of this shift? The conventional explanation—that modern agriculture simply prevailed due to scientific progress and institutional logic—falls apart when one examines what it actually replaced: not some primitive or superstitious subsistence tradition, but a system evidently rooted in the relationship between human communities, perennial species, and landscapes designed on a continental scale. Forests so deliberately cultivated that early colonial surveyors struggled to describe them, lacking the conceptual framework to grasp what lay before their eyes. Neither wilderness nor farmland, but something in between—something for which we have lost the language, because the practice vanished before the vocabulary could evolve alongside it. In the course of my research into botanical records—ranging from undocumented forest ecosystems noted in pre-1850 colonial surveys across Europe to identical patterns of land clearing that emerged simultaneously in South America, West Africa, India, and the Pacific Northwest—a disturbing pattern came to light. These were not merely coincidental parallels occurring in isolated, independent cultures. It was the same fundamental erasure, occurring within the same thirty-year span across every continent where this older food infrastructure had taken root. And the knowledge vanished along with the trees. Displaced. Scattered. Gone—leaving gaps in the historical record that, with unsettling precision, cluster around the very decades when the new, centralized food economy was being institutionalized. For this transition did more than merely reorganize the methods of food production; it may well have destroyed something far older. The relationship between human communities and traditional food landscapes—a connection rooted in inherited knowledge, polycultures, and genuine food sovereignty, which appears to have been embedded in the pre-industrial land-use practices of dozens of cultures—was quietly pushed aside. Not debated. Not refuted. Simply destroyed. Enclosed. Rendered institutionally invisible. And the generations that had lived within this system passed away without passing on that knowledge. The American chestnut alone—four billion trees that, every autumn, provided everyone within their range with free food, requiring neither labor nor purchase—vanished within the span of a single lifetime. The *terra preta* food forests of the Amazon were cleared before any European naturalist even conceived of documenting what they actually were. The royal forests of England, the sacred groves of West Africa, the park-like managed landscapes of Indigenous North America—all of them collapsed within the same brief historical window, under systems of governance that shared no discernible connection or coordination with one another. This investigation explores the question of whether the food system we have inherited was perhaps not designed to feed humans more efficiently—but rather to displace a different system. A system that may have possessed an understanding of human nutrition—one that could neither be patented nor centralized, and which did not depend on purchased external inputs. It further asks whether, in this transition, something older was deliberately lost—something that required no infrastructure at all, but rather only time, knowledge, and a sense of trust cultivated over generations. p.s These ancient, vast forests must have been beautiful. Even in countries like El Salvador, almond trees were found almost everywhere—but 30 years ago, they were all simply cut down, and it is as if they had never existed.Just think about that.🌳😉

When people hear the word Tokyo, they picture neon billboards, thirty-seven million people, and the busiest train stations on Earth. Yet this island in the middle of the Philippine Sea is officially part of Tokyo. Every car on the island wears a Tokyo license plate. This is Aogashima, an active double-caldera volcano rising 1,380 feet straight out of the deep blue ocean, two hundred and twenty miles south of the capital. Inside a massive outer ring of jagged volcanic cliffs sits a second, smaller green cone called Maruyama. Only about 160 people live inside the crater, making it the smallest municipality in Japan. There is one general store, one post office, and zero traffic lights. The only way in is a twenty-minute ride on a nine-seat commuter helicopter or a small ferry that can only dock when the ocean waves allow it. Living inside an active volcano comes with a perk. Around the inner crater, natural geothermal steam vents called Hingya hiss out of the earth. Locals do not need gas stoves to cook lunch at the park. They place sweet potatoes, eggs, and fresh fish inside wooden boxes built directly over the volcanic vents and steam them for free. They even use the volcanic heat to evaporate ocean water into prized mineral salt. At night, with zero city lights for two hundred miles, the sky above the crater turns into a solid ceiling of stars.
