The #Kani militias were a part of the #LNA alliance attacking #Tripoli for over 14 months. Accountability & Responsibility must also lie with #LNA commanders for the atrocities committed in #Tarhouna. @Lib4Dem calls for the families of the victims to get the justice they deserve.

At least 7 people were killed today in #Tripoli Soug Al-Tlaat roundabout & park area where families & children are gathered. LFD @Lib4Dem condemns this abhorrent crime committed against civilians by #Haftar & co. Our thoughts & prayers are with the victims & their families.

@Lib4Dem welcomes the U.S. statement commending #Malta on its seizure of $1.1 billion of counterfeit Libyan currency. The CBL based in #Tripoli is the only legitimate bank of #Libya, and counterfeit currency printed in #Russia or anywhere else is destabilising to Libya’s economy.

26 Bangladeshi & 4 African migrants were killed in the town of #Mizda yesterday, in a revenge attack allegedly carried out by the family of a murdered people smuggler. @Lib4Dem condemns this senseless act & calls for the #GNA & @IOM_Libya to carry out an immediate investigation.

#Russia’s involvement in #Libya is clearly not in favour of a peaceful democratic transition, reaching a permanent constitution & holding elections. This is why @Lib4Dem condemns Russian interference into Libyan affairs and all escalation of any other illegitimate interventions.

Reports of #Russian MiG 29s and SU-24 fighter jets being flown into #Jufra airbase, to support Wagner PMCs are extremely concerning. We believe Russia’s involvement is against democracy in #Libya and @Lib4Dem condemns all escalation of illegitimate intervention in Libyan affairs.

There is mounting evidence linking the planting of IEDs in #Tripoli to the #LNA. @Lib4Dem calls for the perpetrators to be held accountable and an urgent, independent investigation is required to determine those either responsible or involved in approving these #war_crimes.

Continuing reports of numerous deadly #IEDs being found and de-mined around #Tripoli neighbourhoods are extremely alarming. This comes as images of a #Libyan Government soldier, who passed away, were shown after a mine exploded after volunteering to de-mine peoples homes.

This comes as images have also been circulating showing the death of a #Russian Wagner Group mercenary fighting alongside #Hafter’s forces. @Lib4Dem calls for an immediate investigation to be carried out by the #GNA & to report the outcomes directly to the UN Security Council.

Reports of IEDs & Land Mines being planted around #Tripoli neighbourhoods & residential areas by the self-proclaimed #LNA are extremely disturbing, being a similar tactic used by the #ISIS terror group in #Sirte in 2016.

As per @UNSMIL, there have been at least 17 death sentences issued, without fair trials, by military courts in Eastern #Libya. @Lib4Dem demands the fair trials of all defendants facing prosecution & for the authorities that have disregarded human rights laws to be sanctioned.

1/2 UNSMIL is concerned about recent death sentences pronounced by military courts in eastern Libya. We have been informed of at least 13 death sentences issued by Benghazi High Court & 4 by an al-Bayda Court, in potential violation of Libya’s intl. human rights law obligations.

Kidnapping is a gross violation of human rights. Widespread abductions across #Libya are completely against all our morals and ethics. Kidnapping of #Wisal in Tripoli yesterday shows the urgent need for action and we call for her abductors to be found and to face justice.
