Rivers like the Wye & Usk are vital to Mid Wales, but are among the UK's most sewage-polluted Water firms fail on standards, yet execs get millions & customers pay the price The Welsh Government now have the chance to put nature & people before profits shropshirestar.com/news/2025/07/2…
@LibDemDavid The Wye is certainly not the most polluted. The most maligned, but definitely not the most polluted.
@LibDemDavid The Wye isn’t amongst the most sewage polluted. We won’t find solutions if we aren’t using the data.
@LibDemDavid Welsh Water (Dwr Cymru) is already run on a ‘not for profit’ basis and Natural Resources Wales is the regulatory body responsible for pollution issues not Ofwat.
@LibDemDavid Further the Wye and Usk from a CSO perspective are number 18 & 19 on the worst list! Out of a population of 4104 rivers, streams & brooks. The @sewageuk folk are quite brilliant in presenting data!🙏
@LibDemDavid David, so that you can understand & quote accurately the best source of data summarising the Wye & the Usk “Sewage” status is: top-of-the-poops.org This focuses on CSOs performance and not the quality of “normal effluent”. Typically the Wye has P-strippers the Usk doesn't.
