The feeling of resistance to time has been prevalent recently. Sensing that it’s moving faster and faster, outpacing the rate of personal growth and accrual of experiences for my age. Something we all feel, but I’m not sure how we should address it.

I was losing a tennis match the other day and my mind started to artificially minimize the degree to which I cared about winning. Saying things like “this is all this guy does, you have more important things to care about.” Is there a word to capture these types of thoughts?

It’s funny how we have a tendency to justify disappointing outcomes. Saying it’s best we didn’t go to an event we’d wanted to upon realizing it’s sold out, for example… Why do we do this? And what - if anything - can these justifications say about us?
