Shakira on the Barbie movie: “My sons absolutely hated it. They felt that it was emasculating. And I agree, to a certain extent… I’m raising two boys. I want ’em to feel powerful too [while] respecting women. I like pop culture when it attempts to empower women without robbing men of their possibility to be men, to also protect and provide… I think that men have a purpose in society and women have another purpose as well. We complement each other, and that complement should not be lost.” Thoughts? hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-n…
@LisaBritton Finally a prominent female speaking out against the anti male feminazi culture that has swept Hollywood
@LisaBritton the most emasculating thing that could happen to a man is being told to wait outside while she and a friend takes out his fetus and throws it in the dustbin.
@LisaBritton @DogsontheRunDoc Someone once said @PhilMitchell83 ...
@LisaBritton With boys crashing and burning in school and overall in life, it seems like it will be up to the boys, and to whatever men are in their lives, to keep their egos intact and hope they can develop reasonable lives. To some extent, today's boys are paying for past patriarchy.
@LisaBritton I think she put it rather eloquently. It didn't really "empower" women, it slandered men. Their idea of empowerment is via kicking down others. Aka not empowerment. Star Trek had powerful female characters in the 90's who never used their sex as a crutch or weapon.
@LisaBritton Well matriarchy prevails in schools and boys have been disadvantaged enormously for decades. We should address this long ago and finally strengthen boys. Just like respect should be a two-way street, if a girl doesn't respect a boy, the boy doesn't have to respect the girl either
@LisaBritton There is nothing wrong with what Shakira said. I agree with her. 🤷♀️
