Ever spotted these unique 'travel agent' cherubs on Fleet Street?! This was once the flagship store and office of Thomas Cook, read all about its history on the blog here: buff.ly/4ap4h8o
@Look_UpLondon Also the starting point for the firm's various London sightseeing tours, e.g. their Dickens specials in 1912 ... a whole-day drive including lunch and tea for only fifteen bob!
@Look_UpLondon Currently reading a book that details quite a bit about the formation of Thomas Cook. It’s called ‘Tourists’ and is by @LucyLethbridge. T. Cook; Originally serving members of the temperance movement, it later became the home of Club 18-30! 😆🍻
@Look_UpLondon I used to work on New Bridge Street (2004-19) & often walked around the area. I never realised that the whole building belonged to Thomas Cook, there was an office there but it was of course branded.
