Because of these five impurities, suffering, problems and dangers are increasing everywhere. However, through Lamrim practice we can transform our experience of all these impurities into the spiritual path that leads us to the happiness of liberation and enlightenment.
We all want happiness, and happiness comes from virtuous actions. If we cherish others we will naturally practice virtue, so cherishing others fulfills all our wishes. It was for this reason that Geshe Langri Tangpa referred to cherishing others as a ‘wishfulfilling jewel’.

In general, all phenomena are included within two, appearance and emptiness. Phenomena themselves are appearance and their emptiness is empty. This appearance and empty are non-dual, which means one object not two.
There is no difference between Kadam Dharma and people’s everyday experiences. Even without studying or listening to Dharma, some people often come to similar conclusions as those explained in Kadam Dharma teachings through looking at newspapers or television.

The process of sleeping is very similar to the process of dying. The difference between these two is that when we are dying our gross and subtle minds will dissolve into our very subtle mind of death, known as the ‘clear light of death’.
Our present life is only one single life but our futures lives are countless. Therefore, there is no doubt that future lives are more important than this life.
‘Kadam’ therefore refers to the union of Buddha’s teachings and Atisha’s instructions, and sincere practitioners of Kadam Lamrim are called ‘Kadampas’.
Some people say that our brain is the mind, but this is incorrect. The brain cannot be the mind because it is simply a part of the body; we can see it directly with our eyes and it can even be photographed.
The essence of Dharma practice is to reduce and eventually to completely eradicate our delusions, and to replace them with peaceful, virtuous states of mind. This is the main purpose of training in meditation. ~ Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

Ultimately our love will become the universal love of a Buddha, which actually has the power to bestow happiness on all living beings.
We can transform seemingly adverse conditions into opportunities for spiritual growth. There are two ways of transforming adverse conditions into the path: by means of method and by means of wisdom.
Samsara is a prison from which we must escape, instead of wasting our time in a fruitless search for happiness within it.
In recent years our knowledge of modern technology has increased considerably, and as a result we have witnessed remarkable material progress, but there has not been a corresponding increase in human happiness. ~ Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
