"Here's a letter from the Department of Justice outlining what we can and cannot talk about. And by the way, the same attorney who defended the government’s decision to hand over a child to the Taliban in the first place is now the gatekeeper of government information. She ultimately decides what gets released and what doesn’t. Do you think she wants to be proven wrong—that they helped turn over a child to non-relative terrorists? Or do you think she wants to keep that buried?"

"Our casualties were taken to Landstuhl Medical Center. When they got off the plane, there were so many—over 30 wounded in addition to the ones we lost." "We watched as they carried body after body, wounded after wounded, off the aircraft. I remember sitting there with a State Department lead—he was a Marine reservist, an incredible person. He ended up being sent home because he was raising alarms about how dangerous the situation was, especially the child safety issues at Ramstein. He was trying to do the right thing, saying, Hey, this is dangerous. We need to do better. But they sent him home instead." "We sat there, just crying our eyes out, watching these Marines come off the birds. I’ve always wanted to express my gratitude for what they did—knowing what their children went through, knowing they kept that gate open longer because it meant life or death for so many. The selflessness of that decision, the real cost of it, is something most people will never understand."

I'm just following orders...

"There’s a practice dating back thousands of years in that region—Bacha Bazi—where male children are dressed as females, made to dance, and then..." "Babies were getting caught in razor wire, hanging there because they didn’t make it over. You had mothers trying to throw their infants over the wire, desperate to get them to safety. And the U.S. government didn’t do a damn thing about it. These people were clinging to the sides of airplanes as they took off, knowing what was coming under Taliban rule. No mother throws her baby over razor wire unless she knows death is the only alternative."

"Her father had her in his arms, using her as a human shield while firing an AK at the Rangers. They were trying not to hit the baby while taking him down. Later, her mother was seen running from a room, screaming, before partially detonating a suicide vest just 15 feet away. The Rangers fought through intense combat, suffering casualties, and ultimately saved her life. One of them later testified that it was the first time he had truly seen what evil looks like."
