An Open Letter to the Management of the University of Jos on the Need for a Functional and Transparent Student Portal To: The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tanko Ishaya and the Management of the University of Jos. Dear Sir, I write this letter as a concerned student and proud member of the University of Jos community. Recently, I came across student portals from several Nigerian universities where students can conveniently access their complete academic records online. These portals display semester results promptly, cumulative GPAs, class of degree projections, graduation status, and other important academic information in real time. Unfortunately, the reality at the University of Jos is quite different. Many students still struggle with incomplete records on the university portal. In my own case, results dating back to 100 Level are not fully captured online. Across several departments, students still depend on physical notice boards to access examination results, a practice that belongs to another era. This manual system has created avoidable challenges over the years. Cases of missing results, delayed result processing, discrepancies in students' records, and the stress associated with tracking academic performance have become common experiences for many students. In an age where institutions are embracing digital transformation, students of the University of Jos deserve a system that is efficient, transparent, and reliable. A modern student portal should provide: - Complete academic records from admission to graduation. - Timely upload of semester results. - Automatic CGPA calculations. - Display of class of degree projections. - Graduation status notifications. - Online transcript requests and processing. - Secure access to academic and administrative services. This appeal is particularly important because our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tanko Ishaya, is a distinguished scholar in Computer Science and Information Technology. His professional background gives many students confidence that the University of Jos can become a leading example of digital innovation among Nigerian universities. The University of Jos has made remarkable progress in many areas, but the student portal remains one aspect that urgently requires attention and investment. This is not merely about convenience; it is about accountability, transparency, efficiency, and improving the student experience. A functional portal reduces errors, protects students from missing results, and allows them to monitor their academic journey with confidence. As students, we are not asking for luxury, we are asking for a system that reflects the standards of a 21st-century university. The University of Jos has the talent, expertise, and leadership to achieve this. What is needed now is deliberate action. We hope the management will consider a comprehensive upgrade of the student portal and academic records system for the benefit of present and future generations of Josites. Thank you. Yours faithfully, A Concerned Student of the University of Jos

Are leaders like Captain Traoré and President Tinubu getting enough rest? It seems they're too focused on leading their nations to worry about sleep! 😂🇧🇫+🇳🇬
