Interesting proposed legislation from @claudiatenney, following recent high-profile early departures of Republican members who hope to cash out with defense contractors.
@MZHemingway @claudiatenney Being employed by MSM should now be considered lobbying.
@MZHemingway @claudiatenney Should be five years and 10 years IMHO.
@MZHemingway @claudiatenney Maybe they wouln't get paid like lobbyists while hanging around, but once they've made the decision to go, I say good riddance.
@MZHemingway @claudiatenney Makes sense. Also.. unless it’s a critical health or family issue, Senators & Members of Congress who leave their elected positions early are betraying the public. Shameful
@MZHemingway @claudiatenney It's a step... but perhaps lobbying Congress at all should be illegal. It's a form of bribery.
@MZHemingway @claudiatenney Not only Politicians but high ranking military. We have a Secretary of Defense who had to get a waiver because enough time hadn't passed since his retirement from the Military but the door was wide open to a major defense contractor, no waiver needed. news.usni.org/2021/01/21/hou….
right direction , weak as hell, and a long standing weakness. minimum five year employment lag from any elected or selected Congressional post and lobbyist product and/or services provider. zero tolerance respective to any form of personal financial impropriety from any elected or selected Congressional post and lobbyist product and/or services provider.
@MZHemingway @sodagrrl @claudiatenney Really good idea. It'll never pass
@MZHemingway @claudiatenney It should be a minimum of 10 years!
