It's incredibly disheartening to hear the government deny the reality of the endemic misogyny and discrimination that women face in the music industry. It further reinforces the invisibility of women in the industry, and sends a clear message that nothing will change for women.
We stand with the campus protesters. We're now offering free ebooks on Palestine, mass protests, and student rebellions.
If anyone wants to know how we do anything in our band, please just ask us, we are an open book! We started with no experience, no team, no money. We have been booking our own gigs for 7 years. We have only just signed with a label at the end of 2023. Transparency is important!!!
We have a sliding scale fee depending on travel costs, if food or accommodation is provided, if it's a fundraiser, a DIY gig, a 100 cap or a 600 cap venue, etc. But most of the time, venues/promoters can only pay the lowest end of the scale. There's no money in music for anyone.
I strongly believe all music venues of all sizes should have a house backline, including a drum kit, guitar, and bass amps AND heads! Don't expect every band to be able to afford or have access to gear!

Totally agree! I spent so much money having to provide backline at my last gig. It was very stressful. If you venue has regular music nights, it should have a backline

@M_cramps i feel like it would open up so many opportunities for smaller bands too. if all you need to bring is yourself, instruments and breakables for the kit that's the difference between needing to hire a van and being able to use a car and car is way more affordable and doable
this not only got these reasons but how much more efficient load in/load out and transport could be. bands that wanna use their own stuff still can but this would be such a nice option to have especially in the diy scene
