Could Dubai have flooded itself? Chaos at airports and roads in Dubai and Oman. The extreme rainfall may be the result of artificially generated rain. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM), the UAE's meteorological agency, confirmed that at least seven cloud seeding aircraft took off from Al Ain Airport (Abu Dhabi) between Monday evening and Tuesday afternoon to disperse chemicals into the atmosphere that to promote precipitation. The planes were able to take advantage of the cumulus clouds that were passing by at that moment. Cloud seeding involves spraying silver iodide into the air so that moisture accumulates more quickly and forms into raindrops. This then results in a rain shower. According to Ahmed Habib, an NCM meteorologist who spoke to Bloomberg news agency, the rain is partly the result of this technology.
