@jwiechers I suspect the overall point is in not learning a new tool (which may involve researching & purchasing it first) every time you get an idea, but rather in learning *one* tool, and then going "make it so."

@_Nevermind @Dragon_Above С одной стороны да: все были довольны. С другой, основное преимущество ДнД в том, что его "все знают". Если же все знают не ДнД а что им ДМ напел, то зачем вообще было брать слишком сложное для группы ДнД и старательно перерабатывать, есть же и другие игры.

Other than that, Mothership is definitely geared towards adventures that last several sessions - hard to build up meaningful amounts of stress in a one-shot. Simple solution would be to start at higher amounts of stress, or gain more stress per failure. Other ideas?

Which is a failure mode for most OSR games, but usually from the other end: I typically ask for too many rolls, I suspect. Something to be said for systems robust to different playstyles (or that codify the playstyle in the rules, to which, again, OSR is alergic).

Much like 3e became heroic fantasy, 4e emphasizing it even further, 5.5 could be a new direction. That would certainly beat 5e not having one. /4

Which is a pity, D&D absolutely should transition into the cozy fantasy genre, with dungeoncrawling as an optional activity. That's what plently of people want from it, and all the combat rules get in the way. Even the dancing bard is all about unarmed strikes. 3/
