I interviewed a 30-year old with two degrees and 4 research publications I asked her why she was applying to an entry level position on my team when she had more qualifications than me The jobs she applied to all told her she needed more experience The job market is absurd

@MakoMattari I feel it all boils down to prio short-term profits over everything else, and with the current AI trend this problem is going to get even worse. Why even bother be mutually beneficial (Train employee, you get a good worker and they become experienced) when all can be outsourced.
@MakoMattari The experience part is holding me back. (At least in my head.)
@MakoMattari @siriuslyelmo What I basically tell my students in the past 15 years. “When you graduate, get a job first and not go straight to get a Master, nobody will hire you otherwise”. It really is stupid but oh well.
@MakoMattari That was my situation back in 2018-2019. Spent a whole year looking for work and wouldn't find a single thing.
