Improvement of immune dysregulation in individuals with long COVID at 24-months following SARS-CoV-2 infection #LongCovid patients have increased immune activity persisting for months, but return to steady state by 24 months. nature.com/articles/s4146…
The ADAPT cohort enrolled individuals with confirmed COVID-19 from mid-2020 (pre-vaccine), with around 90% of cases community-managed. They were followed for 2-years with detailed immunological and clinical evaluation. Most were vaccinated between months 12-24. Some reinfections.
Initial increases in antibody levels (anti-N IgG) and T cell activity (effector cells expressing PD-1, TIM3, making more cytokines, relative reductionin naive T cells) can ve observed till month 8, but these have returned to basal levels at 2 years post infection.
After 2 years data "shows similar immune cell proportions and reconstitution of naïve T and B cell subsets in LC and MC. No significant differences in exhaustion scores or antigen-specific T cell clones are observed."
