This is the strongest evidence that I’ve seen so far that we will achieve AGI with just scaling compute. It’s genuinely starting to concern me. I used to think that we would run into roadblocks: end of scaling laws, maybe we don’t have the right model architecture, power density…

Glad to announce our new preprint with C. Hillar, D. Kragic, and @naturecomputes ! arxiv.org/abs/2312.08550 We show via group theory how Fourier features emerge in invariant neural networks -- a step towards a mathematical understanding of representational universality. 🧵1/n

The fact that the BEAM will transparently send the closure over the wire is wild. It will even stream a File!
Elixir is fantastically well suited for this. Wrap any existing code in a `FLAME.call(MyRunner, fn -> ... end)` and that's it! We will find or boot a new temporary copy of the app, send functions to the temp node *and any variables those functions close over*.
The biggest improvement in my life came when I realized happiness is just a product of good habits. 9 habits I used to unf*ck myself:
Had some pre-weekend fun mapping parts of the Swiss STATPOP population density dataset to OLAP/Cube RDF! Instead of materializing it as RDF triples, I use DuckDB as backend and Ontop as virtual graph layer so I can use SPARQL! linkedin.com/pulse/rdf-olap… #olap #cubes #rdf #sparql
