People often ask if I am a Canadian nationalist? a feminist? a gothic writer? a science fiction writer? The answer to all of those questions is yes.

In everything you do, think about the environment. Think about how what you are doing may be affecting the world around us. This is not our world to destroy, we are just merely living on it.

Something I find to be a pretty fascinating concept is genre. Genre dates back to the world’s oldest myths and continues today with authors who use the genre to examine social ills, rather than running away from them.

The cold war began nearly 60 years ago and we still haven't seemed to figure out that war isn't beneficial. It is not beneficial to man, our relationships, and the world that surrounds us.

Many of you have notices that often women in my poetry face suffering. I actually pull this suffering from my real life and genuine experiences. Due to the power structure force-fed to women, I feel that most women have suffered.

One of my biggest beliefs that I carry into my writing is duality. In my work, duality is displayed as separation. This separation leads to my characters becoming isolated and unable to communicate.

Huge shoutout to Sherril grace who had a lot of good things to say about me this week! She expressed that she feels my work is "the pull towards art on one hand and towards life on the other” and noted my constant attention to opposites.

It seems like just yesterday I came into the spotlight with the release of my collection. I released Double Persephone in 1961 and The Circle Game in 1964. These books set the stage for all of the literature that followed.

I'm not ususally one to brag, but I have achieved immense success in my career and am pretty #grateful. I have received the Booker Prize, the Arthur C. Clarke Award, and the Governor General’s Award, twice.
