Stranger to me yesterday : ‘ I remember you. You had a play on the fringe in the 1990s. What have you been doing since then? Still writing?’. Oh yes. Still hanging on.
@MarkRavenhill2 funny. parents say similar to me.. you didn’t do much.. erm.. those two lift shafts in the middle of a victorian theatre stage weren’t part of the theatre! They’re my solution to solving entrances and exits! They are a shakespearean back curtain but updated! oh didn’t realise. 🙄
@MarkRavenhill2 better a stranger than a family member.
@MarkRavenhill2 Non Actor: Have you ever been in fair city? Non Actor: Would you have been in anything I would have seen? Me: What’s the last play you went to? Non Actor: *crickets*
@MarkRavenhill2 Frequently, when someone doesn’t like what I have to say on here they call me a “failed actor”. Still hanging on.
@MarkRavenhill2 My Dad about any actor: Whatever happened to so and so? Me: They just won the Oscar, Dad. My Dad: Still...
@MarkRavenhill2 What’s genuinely beautiful about that is, despite not knowing that you’re - you know - still working, the thing you created for a fringe 30 years ago clearly had a lasting impact
