BIG NEWS: I’ve just introduced legislation in Congress calling for a four-day work week. It’s well past time that Americans have more time to live their lives, and not just work. Retweet if you agree, we need to make this a reality.
If you want to help pass this critical bill, can you chip in here? Republicans really want to stop progressives like me from succeeding. secure.actblue.com/donate/mc_taka…
I’m so blown away by the response to my new bill! The American people have made it clear--we want to work hard, but we also want to live. A 32-hour work week would make that possible. Help fight for that here. secure.actblue.com/donate/mc_taka…
@MarkTakano @ikulery Back in the 80s, I was on a committee that got this approved on a trial basis by my employer. The result: higher productivity, improved moral, a major decrease in employees calling in "sick". 4 day work weeks WORK! It became a permanent offer.
@MarkTakano What the hell does Congress have to do with telling me when I work? This is between me and my employer. Or me and my employees. What if I work for myself? Do I cut myself off at 32? What constitutes "work"? What if I leisurely read a book that gives me a business idea?
@MarkTakano How to say you have no idea how a business works without saying it.
@MarkTakano A 4-day work week would increase a company's labor cost, increase the prices we pay for products & services, increase inflation, & increase taxes to offset the rising federal deficit due to your suggestion. To offset your lack of productivity idea the option would be for (1/2)
@MarkTakano You want a 4 day week? Build the business yourself and create your own hours. This isn’t a Congress problem, this is a work ethic problem. You want the govt to save you from the fact that you don’t want to work hard enough to grant yourself a 4 day work week. Soft as fuck.
@MarkTakano This is idiotic as it presupposes we still live in an Industrial Economy. As we move more and more into the Knowledge Economy, days don't matter. Outcomes/value do. Just vote pandering here.
@MarkTakano 40 is arbitrary.. Why 32? Isn't that arbitrary as well? Why not 20? How about 10? Americans will just have that much more time to live their lives!
