Aston Villa having the longest winning run in the Premier League during 2025 seems strange until you realise that the second longest winning run was by Wolves.

@AA_Richards But what if Boro say 'no'. Or Jeff won't pay there demands. Either likely.

#wwfc | Letter to Jeff A friend of mine wrote a letter to Jeff and (with his permission) I thought it was worth sharing…. 31 Jan 2025 Dear Jeff You may not be aware of this but I have always tried to provide a balanced perspective on Fosun’s stewardship of the club. I have tried to understand the business model with the alignment of football, esports, music etc. Whilst understanding the logic, I have concluded there is little empirical evidence to demonstrate how the ecosystem has brought material benefits to the football club. I have even tried to rationalise the self sustaining principle. You may recall I wrote to you last year suggesting that if the approach is predicated on a Monaco or RBL, it is essential the club employs the best people on and off the field. To be frank there is little obvious evidence to back that, which is disappointing because in previous public communication you have highlighted the importance of human capital. Neither can I see the point of operating an academy where the attrition rate is so high, and the much promised pathway is not materialising. The primary evidence lies with several head coaches, starting with Nuno all rejecting the calibre of young players. I appreciate Aston Villa are streets ahead of West Midland rivals but for Wolves to lag behind others in the region is an indictment on club policy, and I’m afraid the quality of people employed. The ROI appears to be one of the lowest in the EPL and even many Championship clubs. It is not a coincidence I am writing to you on the verge of transfer deadline. On the eve of a huge game the owners have reignited the anger of fans when it would be better served getting behind the team. The public insistence of the head coach about new players in the Arsenal post match conference can’t make him feel good. However, unlike some fans I’m not always inclined to believe social media so I will reserve judgement. Based on recent transfer windows, it does not bode well. My increasing sense is this could be the season that catches up with us and we are relegated. Ultimately, this situation is a consequence of an ownership that deviates from policy with an unhealthy frequency. It reflects an ownership unclear and lacking clarity as to its identity and purpose. Are we a top flight football club or primarily a multi- entertainment group or something in between? As an experienced senior executive you and the owners will know, the absence of clarity and a coherent plan is when corporations fail. If ordinary fans can identify the dysfunction the market sees through it. I can only surmise how that reduces the prospect of investment, which might explain the inordinate length it’s taking to announce news of any external investment. I’m not one for knee jerk reactions preferring to base arguments on evidence, rationale and sound judgement but I have come to the conclusion that the current trajectory is unsustainable. We are a long way from the heady heights of 2018-2020 with several clubs (Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth, Aston Villa, Newcastle etc) surpassing us. I know the owners will have explored all options but we’ve reached a pivotal point. Either the ownership decides it wants to make a success of the football club or it’s time for an outright sale. I have watched the club over several decades to the point it forms part of my DNA. Like so many I bleed gold and black. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than belonging to a club with a clear policy, well-communicated and understood with stated intent. Fans may not approve of certain aspects but at least we would have clarity. That much you and the owners do owe to the people of this city. Ends. The letter was cut slightly short because of personal information. @Fosun_Intl #Fosun

@JacquiOatley Complains about physicality at the back, but keeps Dawson on the bench and had Semedo at centre back in his place. The problem physicality problem there was exacerbated by his own decision.

May 23: Jeff Shi warns supporters that Wolves aren't "an ideal choice" if they want to see success. October 5: Wolves: Bottom of the PL table. P 7, W 0, D 1, L 6, GF 9, GC 21, Points 1. He wasn't wrong. #WWFC

GON blaming the run of fixtures, where we have picked up ONE point. I don't like that losers' mentality, but nonetheless, we achieved FIVE points from the exact same fixtures last year. So it's not just against the odds, as he describes it, it's also underperformance. #wwfc
