reading about peter thiel and being forced to learn about silicon valley antichrist shit is actually like, mind break shit. Like I can't talk to people about this shit without sounding like a lunatic.
Peter Thiel spoke at last year's Hereticon about the Antichrist. Busts of Elon are said to have littered the venue. The theme of the event was the apocalypse.
@KurtHackbarth @Nataliekitro @Paulina_VV I read that article the other week and it felt like they were just saying the exact things that fox news fearmongerer types would eat right up
Gone but not forgotten. Right on to the real. #SoufShit
“Nooo how could the port workers strike right before the election? Their president is pro Trump! It’s a conspiracy!” No. Their contract expired. Shipping bosses refused to come to the table with a fair deal. Not everything revolves around the four-year election cycle, sorry!
@elite_gz I once told a band mate that reverb is the ranch dressing of music, in that I like putting on way too much to cover up the quality issues of the rest of it.
Having already committed $1.2 billion dollars, including hundreds of millions from the state General Fund, to build one new prison, Alabama is now looking for $$ to build another. Let's chat about budgets & funding for the criminal legal system. Pull up a chair. 1/ #alpolitics
The timeline for constructing a second large men's prison in Alabama remains uncertain as state leaders seek additional funding, with Gov. Kay Ivey committed to the project despite current financial shortfalls. #ALPolitics buff.ly/4dDU0WW
@leahanelson If our state government would show that they are actually concerned about people's health rather than using it as cover to benefit certain industries and further criminalize people, I'm sure that we'd have a lot more people on board with regulation.
@leahanelson Depending on the person, 3mg of THC can definitely have a bit of a psychoactive effect. I wouldn't mind seeing an age limit put in place for these products, I believe there was a bill last year that passed the AL house to add age restrictions but it did not pass the Senate.
The Birmingham News, Alabama, June 24, 1922
Reminder that Aaron Swartz was facing 35 years in prison and financial devastation for trying to programmatically download and open the contents of JSTOR, which led to him taking his own life. But OpenAI is going to scrape all of academia and make billions by plagiarizing it.
Ugh can we talk about how dangerous this kind of standard is? For decades in the 11th Circuit the standard allowing seizure of assets like cash was “a common sense view of the realities of normal life." If a judge felt the cash in a given situation was sus, cops could take it. 1/
I'm really surprised about Diaz. This is a case where a guy was busted driving a bunch of drugs in his car over the border. He said he didn't know they were in his car. State brought in an *expert* to say "Most drug smugglers tell their couriers what's in the car."
You can only pull a stunt like this in a city where people won't swing on you on sight. Radio station in Birmingham said they was dropping "A Million Bills" from a chopper. 1000s gathered and a chopper flew over and dropped a million pictures of Bill Clinton. It was a literal riot, folks turned over the Jamz van AND came up to the station the next morning to fight the morning show. That was 1995 and folks still mad about it.
Hundreds of Las Vegas parents and kids were hurt after a restaurant advertised an event featuring “Bluey” but had a man dressed in Bluey pajamas instead “The kids were distraught. Some kids were crying … how could you do that to little kids?” fox5vegas.com/2024/05/14/par…
