I don’t see anyone, especially from the GOP, arguing that we should disarm Israel as a stratagy to get Israel and Iran to negotiate a peace settlement. I see lots of people, often from the GOP, arguing that we should disarm Ukraine as a strategy to get Ukraine and Russia to negotiate a peace settlement.
The West has put Ukraine’s back against the wall. Ukraine relied on US and UK security guarantees when they gave up their nuclear weapons in the Budapest memorandum of 1994. The US and UK have not honoured those guarantees. Ukraine has been provided with short range defensive weapons and now that supply has dried up. Ukraine cannot fall back, they can only be crushed against Western intransigence. Ukraine has been told not to hit Russian refineries because it will affect the price of fuel at US pumps and that refineries are civilian infrastructure, which they certainly are not. Ukraine has been told that Western weapons should not be used to strike targets – even military targets – within Russia. Ukraine and much of the free world has watched as US, UK and other alliance planes have been used to destroy Iranian missiles over Syria, Jordan and Iraq. The White House has said that NATO countries will not shoot down Russian missiles over Ukraine, as they did with Iranian ones over Israel: “We’re talking about different conflicts, different airspaces, different threat landscapes,” said the US National Security Council’s Coordinator for Strategic Communications, Kirby. What would you do in such a situation, your country threatened with complete overrun by a genocidal ‘superpower’. In the next few weeks the world will change for ever. Ukraine will take its gloves off. Ukraine will not be able to expel Russian forces, but it will give Russia a very bloody embarrassing nose over its 10 time zones and the West will rue the day it stood back wringing its hands. We are going to see some panic in Washington and London, for sure. And Biden's legacy will be one he would not have wanted. Meme credit @JcGemmell
@McFaul I see a POTUS who do not arm Ukraine for victory despite having had 2.5 years to do so.
@McFaul Just think about Russia turning Ukraine against us.
@McFaul Nobody of any significance is arguing to “disarm” Ukraine lmfaooo We just don’t need to send them more money Speaking of arguing to disarm people, isn’t it the left trying to take away 2A?
@McFaul I haven't seen anyone from the GOP arguing that we should disarm Ukraine. I have seen some say that we shouldn't worry about Ukraines border until ours is secure. I have no problem with that. We better save some weapons for Biden's war.
@McFaul Prof, No one from the GOP or Democrats will suggest that at all. Either they are on AIPAC funding and payroll or they are comprised on their Lolita Express trips to Epstein Island. And everyone wonder how Israel controls the US Congress.
There is no justification for a U.S. Russian great power conflict that is reasonable to assume carries the public authorization of our respective representatives in government. Ukraine is NO EXCUSE to risk the life of a single American child nor a Russian child for that matter on the receiving end of an ICBM for your reckless provocations. Our families are NOT your free risk underwriters. We are those TO WHOM PUBLIC SERVICE IS OWED, NOT YOUR LIVESTOCK TO GAMBLE WITH and if that is not your understanding then WE MUST remove you and your arrogant kind from any position of influence over our lives. The points of principle in relation to Ukraine are a total lie and these lies are a total bust. Justice and democracy would be best served by extraditing Biden, yourself most of the Biden WH to Moscow and not a few members of our House and Senate to face justice for war crimes AGAINST UKRAINE for the abuse of its lands for your illegal killing field.
@McFaul You are not trying to negotiate any peace settlement. You are trying to fight to the last Ukrainian.
@McFaul No one is suggesting we should disarm Ukraine... NO ONE! People are saying we should stop sipping them seasons, particularly at our expense. And yes people have suggested a stopping arms deals with Isreal
@McFaul Israel is the 51st state of US. It also has big godfathers in Washington doing its bidding. Ukraine is a proxy. Get the difference.
