At some point, baseball has to get back to valuing ballplayers and not just numbers on a screen. Give me the Freddie Freemans, the Buster Poseys, Hunter Pences, Pablo Sandovals, Michael Youngs, Ian Kinslers of the world. Guys who just flat out know how to play the game. Everyone wants to talk launch angle and exit velo, but what happened to valuing a quality at bat?” The 9-pitch battle that might end in an out, but forces a pitcher to show everything he’s got. The guy who hits behind the runner, takes what’s given, or just refuses to give a pitcher an easy inning. Those at-bats might not look sexy in the box score, but they show up in the 7th, 8th, and 9th. Some of these dudes could absolutely leave the yard too. That’s the point. They weren’t one-dimensional. Somewhere along the way, we confused measurable tools with knowing how to win baseball games. I’m not against analytics or hitting the ball hard, but there is an art to winning that you can’t fully measure. We need more guys who know how to play baseball, not just hitters, not just athletes, ballplayers. And I promise you, those dudes never go out of style

@DannyBreslauer It was rough to watch what is supposed to be a B1G O and D line get pushed around against UMass. I have so many questions about what we did in the portal this offseason and why we went the route that we did.

@RoKhanna You and the rest of congress won’t get rid of carried interest, step up in basis, or prevent congress from stock trading. All of you are crooks and frauds

And get an even friendlier tax rate than teachers because of the way their “salary” is paid out. It’s actually comical.

Mainly because if they did, not only would it hit the billionaires, but it would also hit the super wealthy people in congress and the people who lobbied for them to be there. Friendly reminder that hedge fund managers’ income is not taxed at the same income levels as you

They don’t actually want to raise more tax dollars. If they did, they would have gotten ride of step up in basis and carried interest loop holes. Why don’t they do that?…

Can you imagine if the Spurs drafted Knueppel instead of Harper? Even if Harper ends up better long-term, there's no denying Kon's elite shooting, versatile scoring, creation, and intangibles would've lifted San Antonio to another level today. Kon is already a top 50 player.

@RUScrewPod Agree. It’s wasteful spending. It’s spending without a purpose and just because. They have to meet a certain threshold is my guess

@RUScrewPod Part of this is definitely a title 9 thing. Football spends so much money so you have to balance the spending. Look at the softball schedule. I’ve seen seasons where they’ve had multiple trips to California. That has to be an equal spending thing.

Hot take, he’s only saying this because the CFP sucked last year and after watching the SEC and B1G championships he realizes it has the potential to suck again.

@CFBTalkDaily And if you don't believe me about the NIL situation. I'll leave you with this. Do you think Pikiell wanted to surround Harper and Bailey with a bunch of low major players last year?

@CFBTalkDaily This isn't an excuse for the disappointing season. Just worth mentioning it will go backwards a lot faster with the wrong hire. Rutgers is as low on the totem pole as it gets. It's a minor miracle we kept some of the guys that we kept without an AD.
