The intention behind the imposition of Healthcess Ad Valorem was to create healthcare infrastructure in aspirational districts & strengthen ABPMJAY, however taxing the MedTech industry which imports more than 90% life saving critical devices, is inconsequential to the objectives.

GST on medical devices is taxed at 12%; it should be brought at par with preferential products and taxed at a lower rate of 5%. Additionally, the medical cold chain industry should be differentiated from commercial refrigeration and a reduced GST rate should be applied.
