M: I was profoundly moved by the funeral of Prince Philip which made the news even out here in California. I just wished I had been there to hold the Queen’s little old hand. But I’m sure the presence of William and Kate at the other end of the cathedral was nice too.

H: Jimmy Saville wasn’t just a family friend but a man who knew mental illness when he saw it. My mum couldn’t have got through it without him and he always found time to play with Wills and me. But the tabloids got him in the end.

Just had Harry’s old Army mate Paki here for a week.What a nightmare. Insisted on a cooked breakfast every morning,referred to Harry as ‘Gingernuts’ and made him play farting tennis after dinner. As he was leaving he slipped Serena Williams five dollars assuming she was the maid.

Look, it wasn’t all bad. There was the weekend the Queen lent us Sandringheim for a pheasant hunt for our friends though I admit I was pissed when the dumb-ass housekeeper used the wrong shade of brown for the initials on Elton and David’s sheets.
