Annual aerial surveys to estimate the abundance of moose in Nunatsiavut are well underway. On Friday, a crew successfully completed surveys of Moose Management Areas 88 & 89, based out of Rigolet. A second crew is currently working through MMA 91-N (Hopedale).

Next month, we are hosting a wilderness first aid course (formerly named advanced wilderness and remote first aid) in Goose Bay. If you've done this course with us in the past, your certification will need renewal by March. There are three spaces remaining.

We lost a great northern wildlife biologist last month, and after coming out of this last field season I think we all feel this especially hard. This is a huge loss for polar bear research, Government of Nunavut, and all who knew Markus.
