This hasn't been a year with much writing productivity, but I am doing NaNo this year. Sort of. My goal is to have a full outline for book 2. I just blogged a little about what I've worked on this year and my NaNo plans: merigreenleaf.com/2021/11/meris-…

I picked this painting tutorial to follow today because in the series I'm writing, I have a scene where a character frees light elementals (which look like fireflies) from a jar. So anything fireflies plus jars always appeals to me 💚

I did this drawing last night but the lighting today is awful so I had to adjust the picture to get the colors at all accurate. Hopefully the shadows are visible in the white fur- if not, I promise they're there lol. This was fun to draw! The little toesies are my favorite part

Painted another galaxy! This one didn't turn out as nice as the last one, but I really like the blues. Also tried out some metallic paint with the gold. The metallic paints look nice against black so I'll have to do more galaxies. Since I love them, that's fine by me lol

I'm becoming obsessed with doing art on black canvases. This acrylic painting was so much fun! Other than painting the black, everything for this one was done with a sponge. I've never used that as a tool before & it was a blast to make a mess that turned into something pretty💜

I used black paper for colored pencils for the first time and dang is this fun! Reminds me of the gel pen notebooks I had in high school. I'm definitely going to use this paper again! The tutorial called for a few more bubbles but after way too long drawing these, I was done lol

Today I did an easier colored pencil tutorial since easy sounded good and I hadn't yet tried to blend a sky in this medium. (I've done acrylics, watercolor, and watercolor pencils.) I love the color combo of a sunset💜

I haven't had energy to do much art lately, but today I finished the colored pencil drawing I started last week. I love the tutorial book I'm using because it's full of things I wouldn't have thought to draw. :)

I've gone to the nearby lakes with my family a few times recently and today the sky was the same blue as the water. It was gorgeous!

Painted this from a tutorial. I'm having a blast learning acrylics, but it's more difficult to paint on acrylic paper verses canvas. I'm using paper because Amazon sent me a four pack instead of one pad *twice* so I have so much paper lol

Today I painted a galaxy. I started by following a tutorial, but when my paint ended up too dark and not blending the way it was supposed to, I went off in my own direction. I really love how the colors turned out! (Which unfortunately didn't really photograph right lol)

I'm not completely happy with this drawing but considering I've never drawn a horse before, I'll call it a success! It definitely turned out fatter than the tutorial example so it doesn't quite have a horse head shape. Maybe it looks more like a donkey? I dunno lol #drawing

@ephirae Awww thanks!! I'm really happy with how it turned out! It looked so wonky when it was just a sketch that I didn't think it would work lol

Today I colored the giraffe drawing I started the other day. I don't have a lot of experience drawing animals so this turned out better than I expected! (The tutorial book I'm using only tells you vaguely where to put the colors, not how to draw it.)

I'm less impressed by this painting I did today, but that's okay! I'm still very much a beginner painter, so any painting is a step in the right direction. I couldn't resist a tutorial that was a black cat since I had a beloved black cat who passed away a few years ago 💙

Today I did another acrylic painting tutorial and I love the colors! It's so much easier to paint sky and ocean with acrylic verses watercolor. (Which yeah, obvious, but I've only done a handful of acrylic paintings so far lol)
