Always remember that you will know your children as adults for the majority of their life, and knowing them as children (especially as small children) is just a brief moment in time (God-willing). There may be some tough times, but don’t forget to savor these moments.

Method to my Dadness tip: Years ago before I was a Dad I read “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie. Tonight I used a trick from the book to get my 2yo to eat his meatballs (it isn’t as manipulative as it sounds). Give it a read, whether a Dad or not!

As a dad I found out I have a form of OCD. *2 yr old done eating yogurt with his hands* Me: please wash your hands *2yo w/ finger in nose* Me: hey bud please don’t, wash your hands! *2yo is VERY interested in dog poop in the backyard* Me: PLEASE NO!! Go wash your hands!

The next time your child asks you to be picked up, you may be tired, busy, in a hurry, think they should act more independent, etc. Remember that someday, without realizing it, you will set your child down and never pick them up again. Savor the small things before they’re gone.
