I’ve said this 100 different times but 400 million Americans cannot all be tradesmen. 400 million Americans cannot all be doctors and lawyers. Millions of people need to do the jobs the market is not willing to pay out for in order for society to function. We cannot have a nation of 400 million fucking plumbers and hvac techs. The solution to the current employment crisis is not telling every single person to do the same 5 jobs. I am struggling to understand how some of you are genuinely this dense. This isn’t rocket science. “Abandon all the other jobs that don’t pay well rather than demanding better wages. Eventually there will be a mass crippling shortage of teachers and EMT’s and shit but I’m physically incapable of thinking one singular step ahead of my current thought process. I am very intelligent.”

@carl_feynman If OpenAI/Anthropic can't cover costs from revenue at the reset then obviously the long-term profitability question gets raised, but the most likely outcome is compute providers making a deal because those companies represent literally half of their potential buyers globally.
@carl_feynman @HankBank007 Making next-gen AI illegal actually helps these companies, because it eliminates the need for further model development capex and allows them to focus all efforts on harness development, fine-tuning, and cost control. Also opex seems hard to pin down atm.
