Does feel it’s getting worse on the roads. Impatient drivers, half-baked new road layouts and unfinished, incompetent cycle projects that don’t join up properly, all on terrible road surfaces exacerbated by growing numbers of vehicles. Pedestrians getting hit. Limited policing.

@MichaelMacLeod1 When I was victim of a hit and run in 2019 the police didn’t care although I provided a licence plate. Thankfully, I wasn’t seriously injured (just busted my elbow for a few months) they “went to the property of the driver but he wasn’t home so won’t be pursing further”
@MichaelMacLeod1 Unfortunately that's a good summary. I would only add ongoing issues with busking amplification, e-scooters and e-bikes, the commercialisation of public space such as Picardy Place (and Princes Street Gardens), and the removal of trees from city centre streets.
@MichaelMacLeod1 @JAFMacDonald My perception, from cycling mostly, is that driver behaviour is becoming more polarised. I feel there's been a shift towards more considerate driving on average but with a significant number of drivers moving the other way, to the "don't give a shit" end of the curve.
@MichaelMacLeod1 Would be an interesting freedom of info request to see if traffic incidents are in the increase… definitely feels like it!
@MichaelMacLeod1 I used to work with a storeman who would sometimes say about the management, "these guys... they couldn't run a brothel!" Well, "they couldn't run a road" is clearly the new yardstick.
