This is great news given that 4 out of 10 Ontarians who need a midwife can’t access one. But midwives, the front line health providers without whom midwifery could not exist, also need investments.
We cannot value midwifery care and undervalue the midwife who provides that care. The two are inextricably linked. Ensuring midwives are fairly treated and respected for their labour is critical!
