This is why we need a multiple homes speculation tax. First-time homebuyers will continue to be priced out of the housing market until we drive speculators out of the market. Homes should be for people, not speculators. #onpoli

@MikeSchreiner Speculation is part of Capitalism, in the cattle business if some cattle are going pretty cheap at a sale someone will "speculate" I could make a buck on them which creates a "floor price". Housing is no different, a better approach is to have the government get out of the way
@MikeSchreiner This, along with a substantial vacant home tax. I walk thru my "desirable" neighbourhood and there are all sorts of empty houses that have been so for years. Why?
@MikeSchreiner Why are you not fighting against money laundering in real estate?
@MikeSchreiner What about more non-profit housing run by non-profit organizations? This is where the government money should go. Build housing that sustains itself and makes the free market have to compete for the rental dollars.
@MikeSchreiner And it needs to be increased for each additional home. It needs to be painful to have excess.
@MikeSchreiner Hahahahaha. The government has no intention of "fixing" the real estate bubble. Too much of the GDP is reliant on real estate
