Dandelion season is upon us! Dandelions are a fantastic source of pollen and nectar for pollinating insects, especially solitary bees. Please don't pull, spray or mow these wonderful wildflowers - let them grow. Here are just a few solitary bees seen using them earlier this week.

Please keep a close eye out in your polytunnels/glasshouses for trapped #bumblebees Especially at this time of year when new queens are on the wing. Every #queen that dies is a colony that doesn’t happen. So please take that brief moment to help them out. Thanks. Please retweet

A particularly good 4 weeks in the #guernsey #wildflower #meadow for minotaur beetles. The short vegetation encourages the rabbits which leave the pellets that feed the larvae...adults are active at night and dig some impressive burrows

Day 2 at @UKOTCF conservation forum- with Gibraltar's #environment minister @cortes_john & excellent insights. From other speakers, a phrase that came up lots is 'the #UK is one of the most depleted places in the world'. We must all protect #wildlife and natural #landscapes!

I've learnt a new plant thanks to @morethanweeds, and now spotted it among the mosses on the riverwall at @surreydocksfarm! It's Common Whitlowgrass, seen here at the end of its flowering and starting to produce seeds.

#theBeeAt3 Basic bee facts every day at 3pm. No 142. #Bees (& many other pollinators, insects & birds) love #thistles. Forget boyband bedding plants (pretty but ultimately short lived & useless) & have the kick ass punks of the wildflower world in your garden. Sunflower family.
