It is the intent and meaning, not the "impact," of the speech that matters. mindingthecampus.org/2022/06/23/why…
@MindingCampus @jordanbpeterson As long as they believe all concepts are socially created, they must get their meaning by its impact.
@MindingCampus @jordanbpeterson The use of "Impact" as the focus shifts the control to the receiver to now deny, deflect, degrade or cancel if it does not meet their approval. It also allows for the immediate shut down of debate - "YOU triggered me!"
@MindingCampus @jordanbpeterson I think, if we stop diluting our language/words and they retain their meaning, the message will be clear and the person receiving the message can simply receive it, instead of perceiving it. Because I think the latter is where it all goes horribly wrong.
@MindingCampus @jordanbpeterson The intent is the focus, the meaning sets the words in motion.
@MindingCampus Next thing the supreme court and congress and all governments need to clarify is who their donors are. Make it public. Democracy dies by dollars.
@MindingCampus @jordanbpeterson "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please" (God) "he the greasy quack-the vagabond god . . . he plants flowers in their saddle bags & speaks of Jesus brave and graduating" (Bob Dylan)
@MindingCampus @jordanbpeterson The comments following the article are of a very high calibre (and no, I’m not “weaponizing” this…)
