Michigan State missing the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 22 years is certainly disappointing, but the collection of people who suddenly forgot about 22 years of unparalleled success overnight is wayyy worse. I get it, but man, ya'll are making yourselves look foolish.
@JRoseWXYZ In a pandemic. This isn’t an ordinary year. Sports aren’t normal. The players have to be mentally exhausted, and for fans to feel any kind of way is selfish. Be lucky we saw any basketball at all.
@jemelehill If this were just an MSU thing, perhaps there are more red flags. But North Carolina, Duke, Kentucky, among other "Blue Bloods" all struggling the same year? I'd like to take a deeper dive into the offseason at these places to see just how much process makes them who they are.
@JRoseWXYZ In sports, we have greatly underestimated the mental and physical toll of COVID. We act like it’s something that we can simply work our way through. Their normal routine was obliterated. Michigan didn’t play for, what, almost 3 weeks recently? You can’t coach around a pandemic
@jemelehill @JRoseWXYZ Yep, this season will forever have an asterisk next to it. My biggest concern is the real chance of long term physical damage to any of the athletes who contracted COVID, and I find myself wondering if, when the NCAA looks back, will it have been worth it to even have a season.
