Interview with Andrew Cauchi, the father of Joel Cauchi, who carried out the attack at the Westfield Shopping Centre in Australia on April 13, 2024. Joel fatally stabbed six people before being shot to death by a police officer.
This is so incredibly sad. I am disappointed that the media is just camping outside of this couples home so they can't even leave without having to give a statement. To have to say to the whole world "the woman who killed my son did a wonderful job" is devastating. I hope the parents get just as much support as the victims and the families of the victims.
@Morbidful Hot take. Leave the parents alone. You absolute psychopaths.
In the aftermath of the tragic incident, Andrew Cauchi, Joel’s father, expressed his deep sorrow and remorse for the victims. He described his son as a “tormented soul” and stated that he would have taken the same action as the police officer if he had been in the same situation. Joel Cauchi had a history of mental health issues, which his parents believe played a significant role in his actions. His mother, Michele, revealed that Joel had been under the care of doctors for about 18 years while receiving treatment for mental illness. He had lived at home until he was 35, at which point he moved to Brisbane and stopped seeing his regular doctor. Before the attack, Joel Cauchi had reportedly researched killing and stalked other shopping centres.

@Morbidful Australia: Gday mate, your son was just executed, tell us why?
@Morbidful When a son does something horrible like this it tears apart the parents. He loves their son, and he feels a sense of responsibility for what he did. He clearly wishes he could have corrected it. What more can he say? It's just horrible situation for all.
