Utah lawmakers have killed a bill to make employers pay workers with disabilities the minimum wage. A federal labor law exemption lets bosses pay workers with disabilities less than minimum wage. Most of these workers are paid less than $3.50/hr. axios.com/local/salt-lak…
@MorePerfectUS I can see the logic. But the government should pay them the difference by some mechanism. Many if not most ppl with disabilities benefit from structure, so there are intangible benefits towards reducing cost of care.
@MorePerfectUS @Oteachjohn Check out the payroll at Goodwill Industries, they are notorious for paying their less able workers pennies and brag that it gives them purpose.
@MorePerfectUS Businesses aren’t happy with subpar minimum wage, they want to pay kids less plus disabled folks and use prison labor for free.
@MorePerfectUS Maybe Biden and the Dems should get on that.
@MorePerfectUS Why the fuck is that legal bro what
@MorePerfectUS They should pay Greg Abbott 3.25 an hour
@MorePerfectUS Great excuse for me to continue not getting a job.
@MorePerfectUS I just don’t understand how this is legal, but that’s capitalism for you baybeee
