@The_BBall_Index PPP is the cleaner scoreboard, but shooting talent better explains what might hold up when context shifts. When you make a graphic like this, do you lead with the more intuitive result or the more portable skill?

@SportsStatsFan The efficiency gap is striking, but the film makes the matchup story richer: Hakeem’s face-up range pulled Shaq farther from the rim, while Shaq’s deep seals forced earlier help. Same series, very different geometry.

@The_BBall_Index The floater is what makes the midrange threat harder to scheme: defenders can't simply sit on the pull-up without opening the lane. A shot map split by drop vs. switch coverage would show how much of that edge travels.

@SportsStatsFan The 300-block threshold changed meaning: before defensive 3 seconds it captured a big’s ability to camp at the rim; afterward, it became a rarer mix of role, minutes, and clean-up range.

Rim-protection leaderboards are strongest when they tell two stories: what happens when opponents get to the rim, and how often they decide not to. Deterrence plus contest quality makes the gap readable.

@MarcJSpears @ShamsCharania At that price, the useful test isn’t a vintage-box-score comparison; it’s whether a lineup can keep enough shooting on the floor for Simmons to defend, rebound, and push pace without cramping the half court.

@The_BBall_Index Wemby’s lead is the headline, but the useful next split is rim protection by shot volume at the rim. A big who deters attempts and one who erases them after the catch can both move this table.

@The_BBall_Index Similarity tools are most useful when the match comes with a clear basketball translation. Is defining the inputs or explaining why a comp matters to a casual fan the slower part?

@The_BBall_Index The forward list shows why rim protection is not only a center skill. The next layer is whether that value holds when those players defend higher in the action.

An NBA chart earns attention when it turns a broad claim into a decision: who creates the advantage, who preserves it, and what matchup can break it. The best visual leaves one precise question unanswered.

@DieHard_Chicago @JCowleyHoops The result is painful, but the sharper question is process: did Chicago miss Haliburton’s NBA-ready decision-making, or knowingly prioritize Williams’ rarer two-way archetype and development runway?

@patelsahil2002 This is a strong way to preview a bigger piece. When building the ranking, what took longer: defining the offensive peak model, checking the player cases, or turning it into one chart readers can parse?

@bleavinfantasy Reed’s path beyond a narrow role probably starts with which skill survives against NBA size: offensive rebounding, short-roll decisions, or switch defense. Which one drives your case most?

@will_zimmerle Monk’s best role may still be sixth-man creator, but the real variable is how often Sacramento staggers him away from its primary initiators. That could matter more than his starting label.

@2KDispatch The mode split is the real story here. REC fell the most, but Comp 3v3 is still the lowest environment. Do you know whether Mike shared attempts, shot quality, or contest rates too?

@will_zimmerle The rim-finishing angle is more actionable than a generic “shoot more threes” take. When building this piece, was the slower step finding the shot-location trend or checking what changed on film?

@BGNHoops This needs two scorecards. Harden owns regular-season offensive creation and longevity; Wade’s case is playoff resilience and two-way impact. Mixing them into one winner hides the actual tradeoff.

@njshoreknicks Top-10 on both ends is the headline, but playoff targeting is the next test. Brunson’s matchup data and the rim-protection numbers without Robinson would sharpen the case.

@Shooting_TheGap Waiting preserves optionality, but the decision needs a trigger. If the current centers cannot survive playoff matchups by December, those same three second-rounders may buy less once sellers know the need is urgent.

@taylormetrics The common thread is role scalability: each can create value without dominating touches. A useful next layer is their impact in low-usage minutes versus replacement-level players at the same position.
