The golden age of memecoins is over. Here’s the data nobody wants to admit: 2021 DOGE: $88.8B SHIB: $40.2B • multiple others over $1B 2024 (the “best” year) PEPE: $11.2B WIF: $4.83B BONK: $4.1B • 5 more over $1B Even the biggest winner (PEPE) still finished 87% below DOGE’s 2021 high. 2025 TRUMP hit $14.7B… because the President launched a coin. Only 3 tokens cleared $1B all year. 2026 Not a single major memecoin has reached $1B. The biggest one peaked 94% below TRUMP. We’ve gone from celebrating $10B+ runs to celebrating anything that can hold $100M without dying. Memecoins didn’t suddenly become uninteresting. We created an environment where capital is so fragmented that almost nothing can sustain a real run anymore. The market now rewards being early and getting out before everyone else — not holding something with real upside over weeks or months. Nobody wants to hold because nobody believes anyone else will. That’s the real shift.
