Trump keeps saying he needs to send federal agents in to protect Chicago because the Police aren't doing the job. You know what makes it hard for our city's brave police officers to do their jobs? Trump's agents throwing tear gas at them. newsweek.com/ice-tear-gases…

Keep calling your representatives, folks. It’s Day 7, and Democrats stand ready to work with Republicans to end this shutdown and keep health care premiums from spiking — if they’re ready to come to the table.

They're hungry- do you feel sorry for them? Kristi Noem went on Fox and complained that many Chicago restaurants are refusing to serve ICE agents, or even allowing them inside to use the bathrooms. Do you agree with their stance? Your thoughts?

@bluhue123 I wish we had Karin Immergut in Illinois to stop ICE and the Texas National Guard from terrorizing Chicago and surrounding areas.

Judge Karin Immergut, for the second time in two days, issued an order late Sunday temporarily prohibiting the president from deploying or relocating any federalized members of any state’s National Guard to Oregon. Raise your hand if you do 👇👇

Today is Franni’s and my 50th wedding anniversary! We met in college 6 years earlier and decided to get married a week before the first SNL show because we finally both had jobs (Franni working for NBC News and me writing for SNL). Wish we could show you a picture of the wedding, but we got married at City Hall and the camera jammed. Afterwards, Franni took the subway back to our apartment and I went back to 30 Rock. So here’s us with Tom Davis in our office later that month. 50 years of marriage. Many of them happy!

Congratulations to Arizona’s first Latina congresswoman, @AdelitaForAZ! Our country and our state face tough challenges right now, and I know Adelita will get right to work helping solve them for Arizonans. I look forward to working together.

BREAKING: In an insane moment, crime is so bad in Washington DC, National Guard troops deployed there by Trump are busy... picking up garbage, at the cost of $1 million per day to taxpayers. A disgraceful misuse of our military.

I'm absolutely heartbroken for the students, parents and loved ones affected by the horrific school shooting in Minneapolis. Not even one week into the school year, gun violence just changed their lives forever. We owe it to our kids to pass commonsense gun safety reforms.

Two children are dead and 17 other people are injured after a shooting at a Catholic mass marking the first week of school at Annunciation Catholic School in south Minneapolis Wednesday morning. “Don't just say this is about thoughts and prayers right now,” Minneapolis Mayor

BREAKING: Former President Barack Obama speaks out about the horrific mass shooting at a Minneapolis Catholic school, reminding us all what a real leadership during tragedy looks like. The difference between his response and Trump's couldn't be more striking... "We can't allow ourselves to become numb to mass shootings," Obama wrote on X. "What happened today in Minneapolis is heartbreaking, and Michelle and I are praying for the parents who have lost a child or will be sitting at their hospital bedside after yet another act of unspeakable, unnecessary violence." Meanwhile, Trump took to Truth Social and wrote: "I have been fully briefed on the tragic shooting in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The FBI quickly responded and they are on the scene. The White House will continue to monitor this terrible situation. Please join me in praying for everyone involved!" Notably, Trump refused to tie this shooting into the larger epidemic of mass shootings — which was implicit in Obama's use of the word "unnecessary" — for the obvious reason that these tragedies are a result of the Republican Party's refusal to pass common sense gun laws. The claim that Trump is "praying" for anyone is just downright insulting. If you think that Trump has ever prayed once in his entire life, you've fallen for a con job. The shooting occurred during a mass at Annunciation Catholic School, which tends to students from preschool up to eighth grade. Two children aged 8 and 10 were killed and 17 others were injured. The shooter is dead. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara stated that the killer used a rifle, shotgun, and a pistol. At this point, what more is there to possibly say about these horrors? We are the only country in the world with this problem. Our society is terrorized on a daily basis by gun violence and the solutions are right there waiting to be implemented. Instead, Republicans have decided that more dead bodies are simply the price of pandering to gun nuts and raking in donations from gun manufacturers. Please retweet and ❤️ if you support saner gun laws!

The beginning of a new school year should be filled with excitement and anticipation. But today, it was marred by yet another act of senseless gun violence. The students, teachers, and community of Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis now share a traumatic experience that has affected far too many Americans. I spoke with Governor Walz this afternoon to share Doug and my grief for the families impacted and our gratitude for the first responders and law enforcement on the scene. Mayor Jacob Frey said it clearly: "Don't just say this is about thoughts and prayers right now. These kids were literally praying." We know the solutions. Our leaders must have the courage to act to stop these tragedies.
